GEM University Fellows
ORNL has been a proud partner of the National GEM consortium since 1989. Whereas there are DNN university partners which are also a GEM member university, ORNL encourages students at these universities to apply for GEM internships and to cite their interests in nuclear nonproliferation R&D at ORNL.
Goal:
- Increase participation of underrepresented groups at master’s and doctoral levels in engineering and science
Term:
- Summer, 10 weeks; full-time
Eligibility:
- Available ORNL project aligning with graduate research goals
- Enrollment in a master’s or doctoral program at a GEM member university
- U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
- Additional requirements are listed on the GEM eligibility website
Benefits:
- Weekly stipend of $850 to $950
- Housing assistance will be provided
- Inbound/outbound travel reimbursement of up to $1,000 for round-trip domestic travel to and from ORNL if the student’s permanent address is more than 50 miles from the lab
